Clark County and Commissioner Michael Naft will provide a Grandparent’s Day Celebration on Saturday, September 10, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the West Flamingo Senior Center, located at 6255 West Flamingo Road on the Corner of Flamingo and Jones.
This free event will have arts and crafts, carnival games, boxed lunches provided by Honey Baked Ham, bounce houses and live entertainment provided by the BluSoul Band.
Grandparent’s Day started with a nine-year-old child writing President Richard Nixon asking for a day to celebrate and honor grandparents. It was created as a holiday by President Jimmy Carter and was first celebrated in 1979 after gaining much public support. The holiday is celebrated annually to show the bond between grandparents and their grandchildren.
“I am excited to host Grandparents Day at our Flamingo Senior Center to honor our communities’ grandparents while celebrating their grandchildren,” said Commissioner Naft. “All are welcome to partake in the live entertainment, art projects, food, and games as we celebrate this special day.”
