Who: Special Olympics Nevada (SONV)
What: First-Ever SONV Virtual 2020 Summer Games. The SONV Virtual 2020 Summer Games will feature athletes from across the state competing in a variety of fitness and sports skills competitions in hopes of earning honors. Participating athletes will compete in track and field, swimming, basketball and soccer skills challenges, and fitness skills challenges, remotely using volunteer coaches.
This year’s event includes the Parade of Athletes, the Law Enforcement Torch Run, and special appearances by the Vegas Golden Knights, Las Vegas Raiders, Reno Aces, Reno 1868 FC, Las Vegas Aces, Las Vegas Aviators, Las Vegas Lights FC, and David Copperfield, all with a virtual spin to the festivities. Why:. The SONV Summer Games is the organization’s largest annual sporting event, however, due to the COVID-19 crisis, this will be the first Games held entirely in a virtual format. Official SONV Virtual 2020 Summer Games logo designed by SONV athlete and Henderson resident, Jacob Tolbert.

Special Olympics Nevada (SONV) is dedicated to enriching the lives of children and adults with intellectual disabilities through inclusive sports, education and health. The 501(c)3 nonprofit organization offers free year-round training and competition programs for 3,253 athletes who compete in more than 60 competitions in 10 sports annually.
