Read Nevada partnership enhances summer reading

May 28, 2020 by 215staff

The Nevada Department of Education (NDE) is pleased to announce a READ Nevada summer reading partnership with Renaissance, the Nevada State Library, and local public libraries.

READ Nevada with myON by Renaissancesupports summer reading for all students by providing access to online reading materials for grades pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, at no cost. This partnership allows students to access a library consisting of thousands of digital books and age appropriate news articles based on a student’s reading level, personal likes, and preferences.

Students will receive login information through their schools or districts if they are not already reading with myON. For questions, visit: www.doe.nv.gov, click the button READ Nevada with myON Partnershipand find the point of contact in your school district under myON Questions.

Nevada’s public libraries will also keep students reading this summer through their work to increase hot spots and internet connectivity across the State, so children everywhere can have access to reading resources and more! Nevada’s public libraries have put together online video “story times” and “read along” programs that are accessible from library websites.

Additionally, some local libraries across Nevada will offer curbside service, allowing those enrolled in library summer reading programs, to pick up hard copy books and their prepared summer reading “package” at the curb.

“Our partnership with READ Nevada with myON, along with our State Library and local libraries is very exciting. These materials, electronic and paper, provides students with lots of choices to keep them reading all summer long,” said Jhone Ebert, Superintendent of Public Instruction.
