Commissioner Jones, Parks & Recreation Staff to Host `In It Together SNV’ Mobile Dance Party May 28

May 26, 2020 by 215staff

Clark County Commissioner Justin Jones and Department of Parks and Recreation staff are bringing an “In It Together SNV” mobile dance party to the ShadowBrook apartment complex at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 28. The complex is located at 3851 S. Wynn Road, near Viking Road and Arville Street.

Clark County’s Parks and Recreation Department created the Driveway Dance Party Program as part of the “In It Together Southern Nevada” to highlight local efforts to support the community in response to the COVID-19 pandemic using the website www.InItTogetherSNV.com. During the dance party visits, a DJ plays music from a van as accompanying staff encourage residents to wave to their neighbors and show off their dance moves all while staying home and maintaining a safe distance apart. Residents can step outside their front doors to their porches, patios or front yards, or stay inside and join in by demonstrating support through their living room windows.

“Our mobile dance party program has been a big hit with the community, and we are looking forward to bringing the fun to the families and kids who live in ShadowBrook,” said Commissioner Jones whose Commission District in the southwest valley includes the complex. “The dance parties are a great way to connect residents to each other during this challenging time, and offer everyone some exercise and stress relief.”

The dance mobile program operates on weekdays, Mondays through Fridays, based on available staffing and resources. Visits are schedule in the mornings or evenings to avoid operating in the hottest part of the day. More information about the program is on the dance mobile page of the In It Together SNV website, along with an online form to request visits. Larger community and neighborhood events are given preference. Since the program started April 27, County Parks and Recreation Department staff have visited more than 70 neighborhoods in Southern Nevada.

The In It Together SNV website also offers online community resources related to COVID-19. The Donations and Volunteers sections of the website also help emergency managers match volunteer opportunities and donation offers with organizations in need.    ###
